Investing in a hot tub offers a host of benefits to your health, enjoyment and property value. To prolong performance, a structured maintenance schedule is key and vital to retain the validity of your hot tub warranty.
Investing in a hot tub offers a host of benefits
Caring for your hot tub throughout the year will reduce the chance of breakdowns, minimise repair fees and allow you to enjoy your spa for many years to come. Consider increasing the maintenance checks during seasons of high use – such as Summer and Spring. Increased sweat and even more users can all put pressure on the tubs components. Therefore, regular inspections are essential to protect your investment and create many more years of relaxing use too.
Below you’ll find our maintenance checklists for throughout the year. Remember – if at any point you notice your hot tub underperforming or are concerned, contact the manufacturer or speak to a reputable supplier. It always pays to repair small issues quickly rather than leaving them to progress to more expensive problems.
Weekly Maintenance
- Before every use, test the PH, alkaline and sanitiser levels to ensure they are within the safe levels stipulated. Add chemicals if necessary as per the guidelines.
- Rinse the hot tub filters, making sure to get inside the pleats, and allow to dry before replacing. Consider using a dedicated filter cleaner.
- Visually check the water for clarity.
- Consider anti-scale products if you live in an area with hard water
- Wipe down the cover and any debris found around the water line.
Monthly Maintenance
- Perform a chemical rinse on your hot tub filter, allowing it to sit in the mix for up to 20 minutes. Spray down after to remove all residue before replacing.
- Deep clean the cover and outside of the hot tub with a specialist spa surface cleaner.
Quarterly Maintenance
- Drain all of the water from the hot tub.
- Remove and replace filters. We recommend replacing filters every 12 weeks for light use and every 8 weeks for heavy use.
- Clean the inside and outside of the tub fully, making sure to remove debris around the jets.
Yearly Maintenance
- Book in a professional service for your hot tub. An annual service us essential to ensure the validity of your warranty.
